Jay Wang has over 20 years’ experience counseling and litigating on behalf of companies throughout the United States. His practice focuses on employment litigation that includes civil claims involving wrongful termination, harassment, unpaid wages, discrimination, trade secrets and workplace violence. He is also involved in counseling his clients on human resources issues including HR policies, executive and severance agreements, wage and hour issues, workplace investigations, and disciplinary write-ups. He has appeared on behalf of employers in various federal and state courts defending against employee claims, as well as practicing before administrative forums such as the EEOC, DFEH, DLSE, EDD, and the Office of Administrative Law Judges for the U.S. Department of Labor.
Mr. Wang has been a frequent speaker and lecturer on employment law topics to various organizations, including but not limited to the Santa Clara County Bar Association, the Labor and Employment Law Section of the California State Bar, the Labor and Employment Law Section of the Arizona State Bar, the National Employment Law Institute, the California Employer Advisory Council, various regional Industry Liaison Groups, and several national trade organizations.
Prior Experience
Prior to joining Hixson Nagatani LLP in 2025, Mr. Wang was a founder and partner at Fox, Wang & Morgan P.C., where he practiced for 15 years. Before that, he practiced employment law at Manatt, Phelps & Phillips, LLP and at Fisher & Phillips LLP.
Educational Background
Mr. Wang graduated from the Georgetown University Law Center in 1999. During law school, Mr. Wang served as the Articles Editor of the school's Journal of Legal Ethics. Prior to law school, Mr. Wang attended the University of California, Los Angeles, where he earned a B.A. in Political Science and Government.
Honors
Mr. Wang has received the highest Martindale-Hubbell peer rating, “AV” preeminent (4.9 out of 5.0). Martindale-Hubbell describes this as “a significant rating accomplishment – a testament to the fact that a lawyer’s peers rank him or her at the highest level of professional excellence.”
Community
Since 2010, Mr. Wang has served as Volunteer Counsel for Watsonville-based Monarch Services. He provides pro bono representation to the nonprofit, which offers emergency shelter and social services to the victims of domestic violence or sexual assault and their children.
