Hixson Nagatani LLP Seeks Entry-Level Partner Candidates

Hixson Nagatani LLP is seeking candidates for an entry-level partnership position. The firm focuses on providing employment law compliance support to small to medium sized tech start-ups, and we also defend employers in employment law litigation. Our business platform provides the opportunity to work with a diverse array of clients, and also to generate your own business from our deep list of contacts and promotional opportunities. Our low overhead enables us to charge rates about 30% less than lawyers with comparable qualifications at large, top-tier California firms. We have no minimum billable hour requirements, leaving it to our partners to strike their own work-life balance. Our financial model is structured favorably for an entry-level partner, providing the partner will full credit for time the partner bills to their own client, and a very high percentage of of their time billed to other partners’ clients.
Our ideal candidate would have these qualifications:
- At least 5 years of experience advising employers with respect to employment law compliance, and defending employers in employment law litigation. Significant experience representing technology start-ups is preferred.
- Deep knowledge of California employment law, excellent legal research and writing skills, commitment to excellence, strong attention to detail, creative, and resourceful.
- Strong desire to perform both advice and litigation work.
- Entrepreneurial spirit, owner mentality, strong desire to grow business.
- Enough portable business to meet at least 50% of the number of hours you’d like to bill.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Our headquarters office is in San Jose, California. However, our lawyers work remotely most of the time.
